Matt Gaetz is Under Investigation for 2017 Minor-attended Narcotics Party, Per Sworn Declaration
An investigation of Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) use of illegal narcotics while serving in Congress is currently being conducted by the House Ethics Committee. At the core of the investigation is Gaetz’s presence at a party that took place in Florida in 2017. According to the allegations, various illegal substances were available at the party, which is supported by a statement made under oath by a lady who was present at the event.
She claims in her statement that she witnessed a girl who was underage at the time naked, and that the party, which was attended by several adult men, allegedly included bedrooms that were “made available for sexual activities.” In the past, the Justice Department conducted an inquiry to determine whether or not Gaetz had slept with the juvenile.
However, the investigation was completed in 2023 without yielding any charges. According to a representative for Gaetz, he does not recall ever having attended a party that was comparable to the one that was described above.
At the beginning of this month, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy placed the blame for his removal from his position on Gaetz. McCarthy stated that Gaetz was removed from his position “because one person, a member of Congress, wanted me to stop an ethics complaint because he slept with a 17-year-old.”
Gaetz, a member of the House of Representatives who belongs to the far-right group known as the “MAGA Squad,” is a member of a group that has consistently made it more challenging for Congress to conduct its job.
Additionally, Gaetz, who was responsible for filing the motion to quit the Speaker position and causing disruption within the Republican caucus, was implicated in texts that were retrieved by the committee. These texts showed that Gaetz intended to meet with a lady who had been paid for sexual services by an associate.
