Matt Gaetz withdraws name for Trump’s AG hours after new info on ‘drug-fueled sex parties and payments to women for sex’

MATT Gaetz has taken his name off the list of candidates for attorney general under President-elect Donald Trump.

The action was taken while the House Ethics Committee on Capitol Hill is investigating Gaetzis for federal sex trafficking.

A shocking graphic that was created by the Justice Department and made public by the New York Times is in front of members of the House Ethics Committee. It purports to show a network of payments that Gaetz and his colleagues made to women who attended his drug-fueled sex parties between 2017 and 2020.

Gaetz, 42, resigned out of his bid for attorney general hours after the new evidence surfaced, claiming that his confirmation had “become a distraction” to the impending Trump and JD Vance government.

“My meetings with senators yesterday went really well. The former Florida lawmaker wrote, “I am grateful for their insightful comments and the amazing support of so many people.”

Even though there was a lot of momentum, it is obvious that my confirmation was unjustly taking attention away from the important job being done by the Trump/Vance Transition.

“I will be removing my name from consideration to be Attorney General because there is no time to squander on an unnecessary, drawn-out Washington dispute.

“Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1.”

“I remain fully committed to see that Donald J. Trump is the most successful President in history,” Gaetz, whom Trump nominated as his attorney general on November 13, continued.

“I will forever be honored that President Trump nominated me to lead the Department of Justice and I’m certain he will Save America.”

TRUMP SPEAKS OUT

Following Gaetz’s withdrawal from consideration, President-elect Trump was eager to offer his support.

Trump expressed his gratitude for Matt Gaetz’s recent efforts to obtain clearance to serve as Attorney General in a post on Truth Social.

“He was doing great, but he also didn’t want to cause any trouble for the Administration, which he greatly admires.

“Matt has a wonderful future, and I look forward to watching all of the great things he will do!”

“Thank you President Trump!” Shortly after the president-elect’s statement was made public, Gaetz posted on X.

Following his nomination as Trump’s choice for attorney general, Gaetz resigned his position in the House of Representatives.

SENATOR GAETZ?

Concerns have been raised over whether Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida will now designate Gaetz as the next senior senator for his state.

If the Senate confirms Senator Marco Rubio as Trump’s secretary of state, DeSantis will need to select a replacement.

Voters choose who replaces vacant seats in the US House, whereas the governor can fill vacancies in the US Senate under the US Constitution and Florida state law.

DeSantis stated on Monday that he was compiling names and performing “preliminary vetting” following “strong interest” from a number of possible selections.

“Florida deserves a Senator who will help President Trump deliver on his election mandate, be strong on immigration and border security, take on the entrenched bureaucracy and administrative state, reverse the nation’s fiscal decline, be animated by conservative principles, and has a proven record of results,” DeSantis stated.

Republicans are submitting a list of choices to DeSantis, which includes Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nunez, former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, and Trump’s daughter-in-law and co-chair of the Republican National Committee, Lara Trump.

SEX-TRAFFICKING PROBE

Since the spring of 2021, the House Ethics Committee has been looking into Gaetz because of claims that he used drugs, committed sexual misconduct, misused state identification documents, and misused campaign funds for personal gain.

But when the committee found out that the Justice Department was also looking into Gaetz for allegedly engaging in sex trafficking and having intercourse with a child, it put a halt to its probe.

After a multi-year inquiry, the Justice Department in February declined to file charges against Gaetz, stating that he was unable to provide a compelling enough case in court.

The House Ethics Committee continued its own investigation after the DOJ’s investigation concluded.

For two women who spoke before the committee, the House panel spoke with a lawyer and interviewed over a dozen witnesses.

Gaetz allegedly paid two of his clients for sex, according to testimony from attorney Joel Leppard.

Matt Gaetz’s full statement

“My meetings with senators yesterday went really well. I value their insightful comments as well as the amazing support from so many people. Although there was a lot of enthusiasm, it is evident that my confirmation was unjustly taking attention away from the important work being done by the Trump/Vance Transition. I will be removing my name from consideration for the position of Attorney General because there is no time to squander on an unnecessary, drawn-out Washington dispute. On Day 1, Trump’s DOJ needs to be established and operational.

“I am still totally dedicated to making Donald J. Trump the most prosperous president in history. The fact that President Trump nominated me to head the Department of Justice will always be an honor, and I have no doubt that he will save America.

CLAIMS ‘NOT CREDIBLE’

According to one of the women, she saw Gaetz and another of his friends have sex with a girl who was seventeen years old.

However, the woman stated that she did not think Gaetz was correct in assuming the child was younger than 18.

Leppard’s clients received over $4,000 and $3,500 in Venmo payments from Gaetz, according to the DOJ payments chart that the House Ethics Committee was able to get.

According to the lawyer’s testimony, Gaetz also sent the women money via PayPal.

During the Justice Department’s federal inquiry, Joel Greenberg, a former acquaintance of Gaetz, provided information to authorities about his sexual encounters with the 17-year-old girl.

He informed federal authorities that he and Gaetz thought the woman was older than eighteen.

In 2021, Greenberg entered a guilty plea to accusations of sex trafficking and received an 11-year prison sentence.

In her testimony to the House Ethics Committee, the 17-year-old lady claimed to have had two sexual encounters with Gaetz at one point in 2017.

According to CNN, she also testified regarding a second, previously unreported sexual encounter she had with Gaetz and another lady.

According to the outlet, the other adult lady who was purportedly participating in the sexual contact denied taking part in the alleged deed with Gaetz and the kid.

Gaetz has refuted every allegation made against him, including having sex with a child.

“Years-old allegations of a sexual / salacious nature from sources DOJ previously deemed not credible assembled by people with a political motive,” he said, denouncing the assertions.
