Mechanic warns against buying cars with popular feature as vehicle’s entire interior ripped out for simple repair
A MECHANIC has advised drivers to reconsider purchasing vehicles with a well-liked feature because it may result in an expensive repair bill.
The problem was raised by the petrolhead after one of his clients reportedly experienced a “botched” repair.
The expert, who goes by the name The Car Care Nut and is a skilled mechanic from Illinois, shared the incident on his YouTube channel.
He stated in the video that his client had brought in a Toyota Hilux following a terrible dealership experience.
“This one will make you laugh a lot,” he remarked.
“People, this is the actual reason why dealerships have a terrible reputation.

“I’m not joking. I was employed at a car dealership.
According to reports, the vehicle was brought into the dealership because the panoramic sunroof’s seal was broken.
However, the feature’s architecture made the repair far more difficult than you may imagine.
“You have to remove the entire headliner and pull the entire sunroof structure out of the car in order to replace the seal properly,” the Car Care Nut revealed.
“I don’t understand why it’s made this way.
“Think about these panoramic sunroofs before you go buy one.”
After inspecting the vehicle, he asserted that the tape connecting the sunroof seal’s corner to the vehicle’s main frame had probably just been replaced by the dealership.
However, he clarified that you truly need to replace the seal completely if this tape breaks.
The corner will “keep popping up” if you don’t, and air will flow through the opening and make a whistling sound.
Since the seal had broken, he claimed he now had to “rip out” the car’s interior and remove the roof to change it, a job he said could take “two full days”.
He also had to send the customer a $1,850 bill as a result of all that effort.
Commenters were amazed by the story, with one saying: “The owners of the car were fortunate to find anyone who could and would do all of that work for $1,850.”
Another said: “This complexity never occurred to me.
“I didn’t intend to get a car with a large sunroof.
