Meet Polly James, the tattooed darts presenter for Sky Sports who had knickers signed by Tom Jones and is Radio X DJ
The oche rock chick reporter, Polly James, once went to the darts dressed as Homer Simpson and had her panties signed by Tom Jones.
As the PDC World Darts Championship makes a comeback to our screens this week, the Welsh Radio X DJ will be on them.
After ten years of transitioning from fan to reporter, James, 38, acknowledges that she is doing her ideal job as the funniest sports interviewer on television.
She disclosed that I was like a leech to darts for some reason.
I saw it every Christmas, so I had always wanted to go. I believe that around 2010, on my birthday, which falls on the 27th, my significant other gave me tickets as a surprise.
I had the darts bug then, and that was it. Gary Anderson was probably my first opponent. The next year, I did, in fact, meet Michael van Gerwen.
He truly signed the sign that read, “It’s my birthday, buy me a drink.”
It was something I truly loved to watch. I had to choose to combine business and pleasure when I was invited to work on it.
First and foremost, I’m a fan. I’ve previously dressed up like Homer Simpson to go to darts with some pals.
I don’t work as a conventional sports reporter. I’m fortunate to have my ideal work as a radio DJ on the side.

However, I understand the supporters’ actions and why the sport is so entertaining to watch.
I have the advantage of being able to address the players right away following a victory or defeat. However, I will always remember the fans that pay to enjoy themselves.
James, who has DJed for Capital, Absolute Radio, and Radio X, acknowledges that her favorite radio guests were Gerwyn Price and the late singer Tom Jones.
“You’re supposed to throw your knickers at Tom Jones when you go to him,” she continued.
A few years back, I had the chance to interview him, but I decided I had better keep my underwear off of him.
Therefore, I had to purchase a pair as soon as possible before I interviewed him on television. The clean ones he signed. Since I would never wash them, I had them framed instead!
Pop and top 40 music was playing on Capital Breakfast when I was there. It would never occur to you to have darts on it.
But because I was such a huge fan, I was discussing it on the show.
They were in Cardiff for the Premier League at the time. Shortly after winning his PDC tour card, Gerwyn Price was the darts world’s rising star.
“We distributed tickets for him to sit in the VIP section alongside Gezzy and me when he appeared on the show!
These tickets caused the phones to go crazy. Introducing darts to a general audience and a Capital breakout was a proud occasion.
James is a part of the sport’s female revolution.
Six female presenters and correspondents are now a part of Sky Sports’ coverage following Fallon Sherrock’s well-known victories on stage.
“Because I am quite vocal on social media, I don’t get a load of crap,” she says, acknowledging that social media abuse can be an issue. That’s because folks are aware that I’m likely to return it.

I receive a hundred wonderful remarks every night. Then there will be that one person who says, “Oh my god, look at that rough chick with a neck tattoo on the TV.”
That’s what everyone has to deal with on social media these days, so I usually laugh it off!
