Metro Detroit: Persistent fog to start the day with mild temps prevailing

This morning there was patchy, heavy fog. Today’s temps are milder than usual. Lori Pinson, a meteorologist, has your prediction.

DETROIT (FOX 2):Much of Southeast Michigan is covered in dense fog, so you’ll need to allow additional time for your morning commute.

Less than a quarter of a mile is the limit of visibility. The Southeast Michigan Dense Fog Advisory was in effect until 4 a.m. However, the fog is still present and thick enough to justify extending the same fog advisory to our west until 10 a.m. Be careful everywhere.

Today’s highs are in the 40s, which is milder than usual for the season. As colder air returns to the area tomorrow, we’ll be back to reality, but our average temperatures for the daytime high should be around freezing. Tuesday’s high of thirty-two degrees reflected that.

Today, a rain-snow mix moves into our northern region. There will be freezing rain and snow in Bay City, Flint, and Saginaw. Light snow could form in the area of Port Huron, but Wednesday is when our next structured system is expected to form. With temperatures hovering around freezing, rain and snow are predicted for the middle of the week.
