Metro Detroit road conditions: Several crashes from slippery roads
DETROIT (FOX 2):Just as a little snow started to fall on nearly everyone in the state, drivers in Metro Detroit encountered poor road conditions Thursday evening.
As they make their way home from work, drivers are being cautious due to the icy weather.
The Metro Detroit area has seen a number of closures and collisions, affecting traffic on I-75 and I-275.
As of 9:58 p.m., there were three reported crashes on I-96 near Novi.
Additionally, this was prior to the Metro Detroit area receiving the most of the snowfall.
When will snow start in Detroit?
It won’t begin to fall in Metro Detroit until Friday morning, but snow will arrive in northern Michigan on Thursday.
REMAIN UPDATED:
Nearly everyone in Metro Detroit will be able to see snow falling starting at around two in the morning. That will continue till eight or nine in the morning.
When will the snow stop?
Around 8 or 9 a.m., the snow will start to slack off, but it will continue to fall intermittently throughout the day until it stops before Friday’s travel home.
How long will the snow stay?
The next few days will see temperatures below freezing when the snow has stopped falling.
Over the weekend, we anticipate temperatures in the 20s, and early next week, further snow is predicted.
However, the temperature will start to rise above freezing by Christmas. It might not be a snowy Christmas this year, but that doesn’t mean everything will go.
