Metro Detroit weather: Another cold day, sans the wind
On Sunday, the usual rain returns, along with some freezing rain.
DETROIT (FOX 2):With a high temperature of just 24, Metro Detroit is firmly under the grasp of winter today.
The good news? The cold won’t feel as sharp because the winds will remain mild. With partly cloudy skies and temperatures dropping to 17, tonight will be another chilly evening in the area.
A warmer trend starts as we look to the weekend. With largely cloudy skies, Saturday will see a more comfortable high of 37. Temperatures rise to a high of 43 degrees on Sunday, although precipitation is possible due to the warmer air.
Watch for a period of freezing rain between 4 and 8 a.m. on Sunday, which could provide hazardous travel conditions, especially on sidewalks and untreated roadways. The freezing rain turns into regular rain as the temperature rises, and showers are mostly predicted to occur in the afternoon.
As we get closer to a rare mid-December day with temperatures in the 50s, be ready for shifting circumstances this weekend!
