Metro Detroit weather: Breezy start with some light afternoon snow

This morning is still windy, but not enough to call for a wind advisory. This afternoon, low pressure is predicted to deliver light snow to southeast Michigan. Your forecast is from meteorologist Lori Pinson.

DETROIT (FOX 2):Not a windy start, but a breezy one. That implies that even though the winds will be between 15 and 20 mph, they won’t be strong enough to warrant a wind advisory.

Even yet, this morning’s wind chills in the teens north of the city and the 20s south of us are roughly 10 degrees colder than the actual air temperature.

A “clipper”—a swiftly moving area of low pressure—will pass through the state this afternoon, maybe bringing with it some light snow. Snow accumulation in the Saginaw/Flint area is between one and two inches. New Baltimore, which stretches south toward the city, will have lower amounts south of that. Perhaps a half inch to an inch, depending on how far north you travel.

This week’s temperatures will moderate, reaching around 40 degrees on Thursday. As a result, rain is expected to be the next system to arrive on Friday. By Sunday, it will be windy once more.
