Metro Detroit weather: Quiet day before a wintry mix that arrives Wednesday
Your day will begin and end colder. As we get ready for a wintry mix late Wednesday, it’s mostly quiet. Your forecast is from meteorologist Lori Pinson.
DETROIT (FOX 2): A much better start to Tuesday—no snow accumulation, no heavy fog.
With pauses in the cloud cover, the day will be calm. Wednesday night is a day to get ready for what can turn out to be a winter mess.
With colder air in situ, we begin to prepare the scene. Rather than being in the 30s, the temperatures this morning are in the 20s. Values of wind chill fall into the teens.
Wednesday begins somewhat cooler and dry enough for your daily commute. Cloud cover will rise throughout the day, and after 10 p.m., there is a chance of a mixed bag of precipitation. Your commute will be impacted by freezing rain that starts in the city south around two in the morning and continues downriver into early Thursday.
As the system moves north, Monroe, South Monroe, Flat Rock, and Taylor will be included. North of the city, it’s cold enough to sustain snow. This implies that snow should fall in Macomb, Port Huron, Sterling Heights, and New Baltimore.
There will be slick roads. On Thursday, give yourself more time for your morning commute. Friday is dry, but there’s a risk of snow late Saturday or early Sunday.
Your workweek begins on Monday with temperatures below seasonal averages.
