Metro Detroit weather: Snow continues to fly during morning commute – how much to expect

Friday morning snow is still falling. It’s not a lot of snow, but it’s enough to occasionally cause problems on the roadways. Alan Longstreet knows what’s coming up.

DETROIT (FOX 2):Depending on where you are, there may be varying amounts of snowfall today, mostly during the morning commute.

The heaviest amounts of snow will be seen north of I-69, with totals ranging from a dusting to two inches.

For Port Huron and locations along the Lake Huron shoreline, where 3″+ of snow is expected, lake-effect snow could add even more. Until 10 p.m., those areas are under a Winter Weather Advisory.

A blast of cold air moves in behind today’s system, bringing weekend highs down into the 20s.

Next week, the cold subsides, and by Christmas, the temperature will have risen to about 40 degrees. Late Monday into Monday night, another system brings a combination of snow and rain. There may be slight buildup.
