Micah Parsons contract update as Dallas Cowboys face major decision on frustrated star who left Bengals game early
As the linebacker’s contract negotiations approach, the Dallas Cowboys have denied rumors that Micah Parsons will be traded.
Parsons is eligible for a significant deal after making headlines two weeks ago when he left the Bengals before the end of the game.
Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, insisted that Parsons stay a part of the team’s foundation going forward.
To Jones, the notion of trading the two-time first-team All-Pro has “never been uttered in this organization.”
The NFLNetwork report that stated the Cowboys had not ruled out moving Parsons prompted Jones’ remark.
In the spring, Parsons’ fifth-year option was selected by the Cowboys, extending his contract through 2025.

If he doesn’t sign an extension sooner, his 2025 salary is projected to be $21.32 million.
Dallas has a $24 million team option on Parsons before he becomes a free agency in 2026.
After Dallas defeated the Carolina Panthers 30–14 on Sunday, Parsons was questioned about that exact idea.
Parsons said to The Athletic, “I know how that business side goes.”
“Whether I’m here or somewhere else, there are no animosities in our profession. I’ve made it clear that I want to be here.
“While I’m here, I’m just going to keep playing hard. I’m going to continue playing hard if I’m here for the next five or six years.
“Ain’t nothing really gonna make a difference, Micah is gonna play hard.”
Last spring, Parsons did not take part in Dallas’ offseason practices.
He stated, however, that he still wishes to play for the Cowboys.
In 10 games (all starts) this season, Parsons, 25, has recorded 32 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
In his first three seasons in the league, Parsons was selected to the Pro Bowl three times. In 60 career games, he has recorded 245 tackles, 49 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries.
He made news last week when he left the Cowboys’ 27–20 loss to the Bengals before the game was over.
On December 9, as the last seconds passed, the 25-year-old was still on the field, making his way into the tunnel.
He claimed that the game upset him much more than the playoff loss, yet he chose not to go to midfield to make amends with the side that had just given him a defeat.
With a 6-8 record this season, Dallas has struggled and will probably miss the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
