Michigan family of rare identical infant triplets faces new challenge: liver cancer

FOX 2, Ann Arbor, Mich.Stacy Wells and her family had a rare set of identical triplets nine months ago, but instead of rushing to buy them presents for the holidays, they are currently in the hospital because one of them has been diagnosed with a rare cancer.
When Stacy Wells and her husband welcomed their identical triplets, Konstantina, Valkyrie, and Josephine, nine months ago, they felt like everything was perfect.
The blended family felt as though they had won the lotto.
“The odds of having spontaneous identical triplets are estimated to be one in a million,” Wells stated.
But Wells realized something was off a few weeks ago. Josephine, known to her family as JoJo, had a strange growth in her stomach. They hurried to the pediatrician’s office right away.
“Unfortunately he confirmed my worse fears,” Wells mentioned.
JoJo was diagnosed with liver cancer at the age of nine months. She received her first round of chemotherapy last week.
Her words, “It was another shock,”
As she and JoJo spent their days at the University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, Wells was forced to leave her position. Dad, a Purple Heart recipient and veteran, is caring for the other kids at home.
The family had to put their ambitious goals and dreams on hold for the time being.
“Still in need of a larger home,” stated Wells. “The public can help us by donating if able.”
Wells claims that although she is making an effort to care for JoJo, the family truly needs a Christmas miracle.
“I’m hoping JoJo won’t have cancer. That’s the most important thing, but we realize it can’t happen by Christmas,” she remarked.
