DETROIT (FOX 2): AAA research indicates that gas costs are declining and may do so in the future.
The average price of unleaded gas for drivers is now $3.03 a gallon, which is 6 cents less than it was a week ago. In addition, the price is one cent higher than it was a year ago, but 14 cents lower than it was a month ago.
Based on the figures:
A full 15-gallon tank costs roughly $45 per gallon, which is about $12 less than the price in July of 2024.
The average price of petrol in Metro Detroit also dropped. The average price that drivers pay for gas is $3.14, which is 15 cents more than it was at the same time last year but around 5 cents less than it was last week. Metro Detroit continues to have the highest average gas prices in the state, even with the decline.

AAA predicts that the declining trend in gas prices may continue.
According to AAA-The Auto Club Group spokesperson Adrienne Woodland, “Michigan drivers are seeing lower prices at the pump.” “If crude oil prices fall, alongside low demand, gas prices may continue to drop.”
