Mid-Michigan man crashes after fleeing police in stolen vehicle in Livingston County

A stolen car was being pursued by Livingston County Sheriff deputies on I-96 until the suspect lost control while attempting to get off the freeway. After suffering injuries, the man driver and his female passenger were sent to the hospital. The U.S. Marshall Service also received the male suspect.

(FOX 2):After a fast-paced pursuit on I-96, Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies detained a 34-year-old male from mid-Michigan and turned him over to the U.S. Marshal Service.

Police attempted to pull down a 2014 Kia Forte, which sparked the chase in the late morning hours of January 27. Out of Lansing, it had reportedly been stolen.

The driver tried to get off onto Kensington Road after refusing to stop while driving east on I-96 close to Pinckney Road.

Both the driver and a female passenger suffered severe injuries when the driver lost control and flipped the vehicle.

For medical care, they were taken to the University of Michigan Hospital.

What is unknown to us:

Unidentified, the suspect was turned over to the U.S. Marshals with an outstanding warrant.

The charges against him and the reason for his warrant are yet unknown. The male suspect is anticipated to face more charges from the prosecutor’s office.
