Mike McCarthy sends clear message to Dallas Cowboys as head coach fights for his job amid team’s struggles
DALLAS Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy revealed what the team’s plan will be as their disappointing season continues.
Due to the Cowboys’ 3-6 start to the season, McCarthy is among the NFL’s head coaches who are on the hot seat.
Cowboys fans have little to be optimistic about as they have a three-game losing streak.
Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott is also out for the season after he underwent season-ending surgery on his hamstring on Wednesday.
Still, McCarthy shared what his squad’s mission will be.
“We just need to stay the course and make sure we’re giving the players what they need, and putting them in positions to be successful, and just keep working on our execution,” he said, per ESPN’s Todd Archer.

It will be a tough mission to complete, however, as the Cowboys will start Cooper Rush at quarterback against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football in Week 11.
Dallas is coming off a 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in which Rush and Trey Lance combined to complete 17-of-29 passes for a measly 49 yards and an interception.
The Cowboys’ defense wasn’t much better, allowing 348 total yards and Jalen Hurts to record four total touchdowns.
This season, overall, the Dallas offense is averaging the fewest points and yards per play for a McCarthy-coached team.
The Cowboys are ranked 31st in average yards on the ground with 83.7.
Dallas’s defense is ranked 31st in rushing yards allowed per game (152.1).

Through nine games last season, the Cowboys averaged close to 30 points per game and averaged 379.1 yards per game, which was fourth-best in the league.
Prescott had 17 passing touchdowns en route to an NFL-best 36 along with six interceptions.
Dallas is tied for 21st in points per game through nine games this year.
The Cowboys have yet to win at their home confines in AT&T Stadium, sitting with a 0-4 record.
Including the Texans showdown, five of their next eight games will be at AT&T Stadium.
Three of those five home games will be against teams who would earn a playoff spot if the season ended after Week 10.
While McCarthy’s job seems to be in jeopardy, Dallas owner Jerry Jones has continued his stance of not firing a head coach during the season.

The 61-year-old McCarthy is in the final year of his contract.
He has coached the Cowboys to three straight 12-5 seasons and two division titles but has a 1-3 playoff record.
