Misfire at Shooting Range: Pinecrest Female Officer Accidentally Shot in Homestead
SOUTH MIAMI-DADE, FLA. – According to sources speaking with 7News, a Pinecrest Police officer was unintentionally shot in the arm during a training accident in South Miami-Dade and had to be taken to the hospital.
On Wednesday afternoon, Miami-Dade Police Department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived at the Homestead Training Center, which is located close to Southwest 304 Street and 117 Avenue.
“A cop was shot at the Homestead Training Center. She was placed in a car at Homestead Training Center by Pinecrest troops, according to a dispatcher. They’re on their way to Homestead Hospital right now. top priority. Close the highways leading to the medical facility.
Several law enforcement agencies responding to the incident were captured by 7Skyforce as it flew over the site.
After being taken to Homestead Hospital, the officer was airlifted to the trauma center at Jackson South Medical Center.
The officer was shot by another cop during a yearly tactical firearms training exercise, according to the Pinecrest police chief.
The gunfire was unintentional and came from another cop. It is a female police officer pair. According to Pinecrest Police Chief Jason Cohen, “At this point, we have no reason to believe it was anything other than accidental.”

According to Pinecrest Police, the officer is anticipated to be alright and is in excellent shape.
“She is in excellent shape. She will be alright, I promise. The best news we could have is that. She is cheerful and upbeat. Cohen remarked, “Her family is all around her.
Cohen expressed his relief that the cop was making a full recovery at the hospital.
“I feel so much relief. No matter how it happened, you never want to get the call that every chief dreads to receive: one of your officers was shot, Cohen said. “However, it was a huge relief to know pretty quickly that it wasn’t a very serious wound and she would be fine.”
The officer has four years of service on the force, according to the chief.
According to Cohen, “The person who was shot has been with the department for about four years, and the other person has been with the department for longer.” Her identity is still unknown.
The officer’s return date to work is unknown, but the chief assured me that she would be OK and able to return.
Cohen declared, “We will make sure this never happens again, and we will evaluate the training and all the safety precautions.”
