My car was driven 20 miles away while I was on vacation after I parked by airport – city say its game of ‘Whack-a-mole’

While on vacation, a woman has disclosed that her automobile was stolen and driven around 20 miles from an airport parking lot.

A Hudson Valley, New York, car owner claims that after parking in a long-term lot close to JFK Airport, her vehicle was taken from Jamaica, Queens, to Jersey.

An unidentified New Hampton resident told CBS Newson that she feels violated because a stranger was driving her car while she was halfway around the world, carrying all of her personal possessions.

In fact, she didn’t learn about the incident until she was woken up in the middle of the night and given a picture of her car and a fine for a toll violation on the George Washington Bridge.

The woman parked at JFK EconoPark near the airport before her August flight.

The woman had to take an Uberback to Orange County while her car was being taken after finding out her car’s battery was dead when she returned to the lot.

She called the lot manager a few weeks after receiving the violation notice in the mail, and he said he wanted to assist but has since ceased returning her calls.

“I would love to see reimbursement for all of the expenses I incurred,” she continued.

The woman is not the only client who has had issues with JFK EconoPark; other customers have said that when they returned to their automobiles, they discovered scratches, unanticipated charges, and even stolen goods.

The property is one of dozens of unauthorized parking lots that inspectors are playing a “game of whack-a-mole” with, according to attorneys for the City of New York, investigator Tim McNicholas subsequently disclosed.

The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection Commissioner, Vilda Vera Mayuga, claims that despite issuing three violation notifications to JFK Econopark, her office is unable to close the lot.

However, the city claims that after inspectors found that about half of the lot was using city-owned property, it did close down a portion of it.

According to a NewsBreak story, the Gettel showroom was almost completely vacant, with the exception of a small fleet of Lincoln cars remaining for sale.

Oddly enough, though, neither the dealership’s website nor the building contain any notice of its closing.

Over the course of 30 years, Gettel has established dealerships with 15 manufacturers in 20 various locales, ranging from Punta Gorda to Georgia.

With dealerships offering brands including Buick, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram, they have been in Punta Gorda since 2017.
