My daughter feared I’d be abducted by aliens during Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin flight – worse happened after I landed

Emily Calandrelli was giddy with anticipation for what lay ahead.

The Netflix series actor and YouTube personality, who goes by Space Gal on social media, spoke with The U.S. Sun at her alma mater, MIT, about her upcoming trip to space on one of Jeff Bezos’ rockets on November 22.

ALIEN FEARS

Emily talked on “inspiring” young girls who look up to her and “dreaming of becoming astronauts” before she became the 100th woman to enter space.

She expressed her children’s anxieties as well.

“My five-year-old daughter is afraid that aliens will take me to space,” she smiled as she told The U.S. Sun.

Even though it was just for five amazing minutes, the experience of looking down onto Earth was shocking, as was to be expected.

I kept repeating that was our world, but I didn’t anticipate seeing that much space! “That’s our planet!” she subsequently declared on social media.

“I had the same reaction when my children were born, thinking, ‘That’s my baby!'”

Both it and the response from some internet trolls who apparently felt it was a good idea to make fun of her for comparing it to childbirth were astounding.

The remarks below the video were so accurate that Blue Origin decided to take her clip off from their social media pages.

My soul is experiencing things. In reaction to the awful noise outside, she remarked, “It’s a trait I got from my father.” We experience all emotions intensely, and it’s a lovely way to live. My heart is inked with this joy.

I won’t feel bad about my response or provide an apology. I adore it, and it’s all mine.

An estimated $1.2 million was raised by 30 companies to fund Emily, who joined six other space enthusiasts for the 12-minute journey.

The New Shepherd spaceship from Blue Origin had flown with people on board for the eighth time.

Nothing will ever take away from her moment in the spotlight, even though the unanticipated blowback was regrettable.

EXCITING FUTURE

She stated, “For me, it’s a way to fulfill personal and professional goals,” following her participation as a judge in the MIT Red Bull’s Basement innovation challenge.

Blue Origin is a suborbital flight, in contrast to Elon Musk’s Space X. After blasting out to 62 miles, the rocket spends five minutes in space.

From launch to landing, the whole journey takes 720 seconds.

SpaceX, on the other hand, employs orbiting spacecraft like Falcon 9 that are intended to reach the International Space Station. Occasionally, the mission rocket stays in orbit for days or weeks at a time.

Emily hopes that within the next ten years, venturing into the unknown will become commonplace.

This is “a new era of space exploration,” according to her, and private businesses like Blue Origin are “revolutionizing space travel.”

“They ve made rockets reusable, lowering costs and allowing regular people to buy tickets to space,” she stated. “Over the next 10 years, we ll see the cost of space tourism go down with economies of scale.”

Although Emily believes it will take longer for “true space travel” to other planets and the moon to become commonplace, Musk has long expressed his intention to settle on Mars.

“In the future,” she stated, “experiences like mine might become as common as climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.”
