NBA makes final punishment decision on Russell Westbrook after ‘obscene’ gesture on court for Denver Nuggets
Russell Westbrook was fined by the NBA for a spectacular gesture he made during a game.
During Friday’s 145-118 loss to the New York Knicks, the veteran point guard for the Denver Nuggets made the offensive gesture public.
When Westbrook scored a three-pointer in the corner in the fourth quarter, the Nuggets were well behind.
Then, standing in front of the Knicks bench, the nine-time NBA All-Star gestured the middle finger.
Westbrook was fined $35,000 by the NBA on Friday for the gesture.
Following Westbrook’s drive to the basket being rejected by Knicks player Josh Hart, the scenario took place.

The Knicks players begged the refs to give Westbrook a traveling violation, but he kept the ball.
After making the three-pointer a few seconds later, Westbrook pointed to the Knicks bench.
In the loss, he came off the bench to lead the Nuggets with 27 points.
The NBA has previously fined Westbrook.
Knicks standout guard OG Anunoby scored a career-high 40 points during the contest.
Westbrook has previously received fines from the NBA.
Using foul language in an interview in 2017 and an altercation with a Utah Jazz fan in 2019 are just two of the many instances for which he has already been fined.
Westbrook signed a two-year veteran minimum contract with the Nuggets in the summer, and he is currently in his first season there.
