NBC announces major broadcasting change involving Patrick Mahomes with Kansas City Chiefs given video game treatment
NBC announced that they will collaborate with two media outlets to produce a simulcast of a Kansas City Chiefs game featuring Patrick Mahomes.
Additionally, video game technology will be used to show the game during the broadcast shift.
NBC revealed that they will collaborate with Genius Sports and EA Sports to produce an NFL simulcast with a Madden theme.
Video game technology and features will be used in the live coverage of the Week 16 Houston Texans vs. Chiefs game.
The feed will be accessible via the Peacock streaming service offered by NBC.
“We are excited to work with the NFL, EA Sports, and Genius Sports to offer fans the ability to watch Madden come to life like never before exclusively on Peacock, which has established itself as a home for premium live sports and innovative viewing experiences,” Fred Gaudelli, NBC Sports’ NFL executive producer, said.

“This first-ever Madden NFL Cast marks a new milestone as Peacock’s first sports alt-cast.”
Gaudelli collaborated with the late, great commentator John Madden, who is honored by the name of the EA Sports series.
The Madden game engine will power the animations in the EA Sports Madden NFL Cast, which will employ real-time data from Next Gen Stats.
The GeniusIQ AI platform from Genios Sports will enable the system.
There are other prominent US broadcasters that provide simulcasts for their sports coverage besides NBC.
The Manningcast alternate broadcast of ESPN’s Monday Night Football and CBS’s alternate productions of specific NFL games are two instances of simulcasts.
The latter production features on-screen graphics and information together with kid-friendly narration.
Andrea Hopelain, general manager and senior vice president of publishing at EA Sports, stated, “At EA Sports, we’re always exploring innovative ways to bring fans closer to the game they love, and the Madden NFL Cast is a groundbreaking step in that direction.”
“We’re changing the way football fans watch the game by fusing the thrill of live NFL action with the immersive potential of augmented reality.
“Partnering with NBC Sports, Peacock, the NFL, and Genius Sports on this initiative allows us to deliver a dynamic broadcast that showcases the power of Madden NFL in a whole new way outside the game.”
The Chiefs, who are currently 11-1, have won another close game.
In a special Black Friday telecast, they defeated the Raiders 19–17.
Right now, Kansas City boasts the NFL’s best record.
