New Harley-Davidson models expected to hit the market in 2026 – and they’re not your typical motorcycles

ALL-new Harley-Davidson models are forecast to hit the market in just over a year’s time – but they aren’t what you would expect from the iconic motorcycle brand.

The all-electric LiveWire division from Harley-Davidson, made in collaboration with Taiwanese scooter giant KYMCO, will be a new range of high-performance maxi-scooters.

Expected to hit the market in 2026, the scooters will use LiveWire’s S2 Arrow powertrain.

KYMCO, an early investor in the LiveWire brand, has had a long-standing collaboration with the brand ever since.

Many were surprised to see Harley-Davidson’s sub-brand’s appearance at this year’s KYMCO’s stall at the Milan Motorcycle Shows, known as the EICMA.

Following the news, LiveWire released new concept drawings and renders showing two modern-looking electric scooters.

One shows a model with aggressive off-road tires and luggage racks, while the second is a more straightforward road-going variant.

The S2 Arrow platform which serves as the foundation for the scooters was first introduced with the flat track-inspired streetbike the LiveWire S2 Del Mar.

It includes an electric motor, a structural battery, and control hardware.

The new KYMCO maxi-scoots reportedly match the S2 Arrow platform’s “benchmark performance” and “range capabilities.”

This means it should have a combined-cycle riding range of approximately 86 miles and can charge from 20-80% in less than an hour and 20 minutes.

The current S2 Arrow system delivers 84 hp of peak power in short bursts, and 40 hp of continuous power without overheating.

With a maximum torque of 194 lb.ft and a maximum speed of 101 mph, it can go from 0-60 mph in just three seconds.

They are also in an attractive range of pastel colors.

At this point, there are no details on model names or pricing.

Harley-Davidson plans to start shipping the scooters in the first half of 2026, with the plan to distribute them worldwide.

Safety tips for pedestrians and cyclists

Every US state has laws designed to protect pedestrians and cyclists. However, there are some tips to increase your safety as a pedestrian or cyclist to help ensure a driver sees you, or when to cross traffic safely.

As a pedestrian or cyclist, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings.

Here are some tips for safe travel as a pedestrian.

  • Cross the street using marked crosswalks when available, and preferably the corner.
  • Utilize the buttons to alert drivers of a crossing pedestrian, and wait until the light is green – as this means the driver’s light is red.
  • Pay special attention to drivers who are looking to turn, as they may not see you while making the turn.
  • Look both ways before crossing the street.
  • Increase your visibility by wearing bright-colored clothing, reflective gear, or even lights during low visibility conditions like rain, fog, dusk, or nighttime.

As a cyclist, it’s important to:

  • Obey all traffic laws, lights, and signals. On the road, you are considered a vehicle, and following laws increases your safety.
  • Ride in the same direction as traffic.
  • Use hand signals to communicate to drivers in your intended direction.
  • Wear a helmet. Not only is it the law in most states, but it decreases your chance of a serious injury by 63 to 88 percent.
  • Use headlights or tail lights while riding at dawn, dusk, or nighttime to increase your visibility.

LiveWire’s CEO Karim Donnez put out a statement about the new partnership.

“The belief and recognition that we could create a class-leading maxi-scooter using our S2 Arrow powertrain has been a constant, KYMCO sharing their expertise has changed belief into reality, and we are excited to commence on this journey with such a globally recognized leader in the category,” he said.
