NFL announces Super Bowl 59 referee crew and fans spot subtle detail that hints at another Kansas City Chiefs win
The Super Bowl winner has been confirmed by a detail that NFL fans are certain they have seen.
The NFL’s Super Bowl referee announcement caught the attention of fans, who are now convinced that the Kansas City Chiefs will win the game.
Eight of the top referees in the league will officiate Super Bowl LIX, according to the officiating crew released on Tuesday.
The following is the crew:
- Referee – Ron Torbert
- Umpire – Mike Morton
- Down Judge – Max Causey
- Line Judge – Mark Stewart
- Field Judge – Mearl Robinson
- Side Judge – Boris Cheek
- Back Judge – Jonah Monroe
- Replay Official – Kevin Brown
The way the officiating crew was presented is what fans are upset about, not who was chosen.

The officials were depicted in a red and yellow logo created by the NFL.
It was nearly identical to the colors the Chiefs wear in games.
On social media, fans quickly pointed this out after noticing it.
“Chiefs Roster Expansion,” a fan commented.
Another fan remarked, “Torbert’s crew averaged 17 penalties per game, third most in the NFL.”
A third fan remarked, “They didn’t really put Chiefs colors on the graphic, did they?”
A fourth admirer asked, “Why does the background look like he’s on the Chiefs?”
“Damn, the Chiefs are adding some dawgs to their roster,” wrote a fifth fan.
The Chiefs don’t have a significant advantage in the officiating staff, even if they still need to defeat the Buffalo Bills to get to the Super Bowl.
In games refereed by Ron Torbert’s team, the Chiefs have a.500 record. In that span, their overall score is.730.
Kansas City may be in risk of losing their three-peat since it appears that they perform worse when Torbert referees their games.

In addition, the Chiefs’ officiating staff is not very good for their AFC Championship game.
The head referee for that match is Clete Blakeman.
In the 2019 AFC Championship game, Blakeman gave Chris Jones a notorious roughing the passer penalty, which helped the New England Patriots win.

In games officiated by Blakeman, Mahomes is 6-5; his most recent defeat came on Christmas Day of last year against the Raiders.
Only 31% of Blakeman’s games were won by the home team.
