NFL ‘bends rules’ to make unprecedented Christmas schedule change with fans facing travel chaos
Fans will have terrible travel nightmares as a result of the NFL’s historic decision to alter its Christmas schedule.
Fans have accused the league of breaking its own regulations in order to make the change.
The rescheduling, which includes a Thursday Night Football game on Amazon Prime, occurs just a few days before Christmas.
The Denver Broncos game against the Los Angeles Chargers will now take place in prime time on Thursday, December 19.
Originally, Sunday, December 22, was the date of the performance.
Originally slated for that Thursday time, the Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals game has been moved to Sunday at 1 pm ET.

Fans who have already reserved hotels and flights will find the relocation to be inconvenient.
Last year, the NFL changed its flexible game policy to permit games in Weeks 13 through 17 to be rescheduled to Thursday.
There must be at least 28 days’ notice before the games are flexed.
Additionally, Friday’s choice to show off on December 19 is just one day away from the four-week mark.
Additionally, the Chargers and Broncos will have to endure another short week, which is something that teams typically only have to deal with once.
On social media, fans expressed their outrage at the ruling.
On X, someone wrote, “This is absolutely ridiculous.”
“I already have reservations for a hotel, an aircraft, a rental vehicle, etc. What a dreadful flex the NFL made.
“This is awful for fans who are going to the game,” another said.
“It’s terrible to go from Orange County to Los Angeles for a 5:15 game.
“Bronco fans who made travel plans thinking game will be played Sunday are screwed.”
“Gotta love the league punishing teams with a short week for being competitive,” wrote a third.
“That makes the Broncos play two Thu games in the same season,” another commenter said. Additionally, both are traveling.
“How is that even allowed?”
From the perspective of competition, the flex makes sense.
The Denver Broncos are 6-5 going into Week 12, while the Los Angeles Chargers are 7-3.
In the AFC playoff race, both teams are in a strong position.
