NFL fans fear Super Bowl jersey choice by Eagles already gives Chiefs major advantage if history repeats itself
SUPERSTITION After the Philadelphia Eagles announced their Super Bowl LIX uniform decision, NFL fans are starting to worry.
In Sunday’s main event in New Orleans, the Eagles play the Kansas City Chiefs.
The last time Philadelphia played in the Super Bowl was in 2022. This is their sixth appearance.
For this weekend’s matchup at the Superdome, they will don their home green jerseys.
Instead of wearing their typical red jersey, the Chiefs, who are aiming for a record-breaking three-peat, will wear white.
And because white has historically been a lucky combo for teams, this gets the NFL community buzzing.

According to CBS’s Jon Breech, teams wearing white have a 16–4 record in the last 20 Super Bowls.
When the Eagles decide to wear green, they have a 0–3 record in Super Bowls.
Because the New England Patriots wore their uniforms first, Philly was compelled to wear green in SBLII.
When that happened in 2017, the Eagles won 41–33.
It continues to be the organization’s sole Super Bowl victory.
One Eagles supporter said on X, “Why do I now think we’re going to lose seeing those jerseys?”
“Tell the NFL that the Eagles would like to wear white jerseys after they lost the last Super Bowl with green ones. “Don’t wear green jerseys!” somebody else pleaded.
“The @NFL should amend the regulation prohibiting teams from dressing anyway they like for the Super Bowl!A third person proposed that the Eagles be permitted to wear their all-black attire.
“What makes wearing white acceptable for the Chiefs? Another yelled, “I thought the lower seed wore their away jersey.”
For Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles have been selected as the home team.
The NFC champions are the home team in odd years, and the AFC champions are the home team in even years. This is no longer determined by seeding.
Meanwhile, Chiefs supporters are worried about Travis Kelce’s future.
By his high standards, the 35-year-old standout tight end has had a modest season.
Additionally, fans were alerted by a social media message made earlier this week by the Chiefs’ organization.
“12 years of greatness” was the caption for a photo of Kelce.
