NFL makes final punishment decision on Houston Texans duo who were penalized for Patrick Mahomes hits

The NFL has finally decided how much to punish two Houston Texans players.

Henry To’oto’o and Will Anderson Jr. were both given penalties for separate, contentious hits on Patrick Mahomes.

The players could face further punishments from the league for both of the penalties.

Tom Pelissero of NFLNetwork claims that the league has made the decision to take additional action.

“The NFL did not penalize Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. or linebacker Henry To oTo o for their hits on Patrick Mahomes that resulted in contentious penalties in last week’s playoff game,” Pelissero stated on X.

“That does not acknowledge an officiating error. However, neither play merited a fine.

When it was determined that Anderson Jr. had touched Mahomes’ helmet while he was in the pocket, he was called for roughing the passer.

When he was a runner, To’oTo’o struck Mahomes as he slid down.

Troy Aikman, an ESPN analyst, was among those who questioned both infractions at the time they occurred.

Kansas City advanced to the AFC Championship with a 23–14 victory.

Mahomes was compelled to address allegations that authorities give preference to the Chiefs while making calls.

He boldly declared, “I don’t feel that way,” on Wednesday.

“The officials are ultimately trying their hardest to call the game as appropriately and fairly as they can.

“And all you can do is put yourself out there, give your all in the game you love, and accept the outcome.”

That’s what we preach here in Kansas City, I believe.

“Every play is unique, which is what makes the NFL so unique. You have new officials every year, and you get new situations, but you never really know.

“I feel like I’ve just continued to play the game, and I just try to win, and whatever happens kind of happens.”

The quarterback for the Chiefs acknowledged that his attempt to get another penalty from To oTo o went too far.

When Mahomes moved out of bounds, he appeared to slow down and was struck in the back by To oTo o, who was unable to control his momentum.

He appeared to be trying to gain a penalty as he went to the ground, flailing his arms.

Standing nearby, an official chose not to raise his flag.

“I would say the only one I felt like I probably did too much was the one on the sideline where I didn’t get the flag,” Mahomes said in an interview with 96.5 The Fan on Tuesday.

“The ref saw it and didn t throw a flag, I understood it immediately and know that I probably shouldn t have done that.”
