NFL makes major decision over future of Christmas Day games including Chiefs after Tyson-Paul streaming shambles
Despite Tyson-Paul’s dismal performance, the NFL is putting its trust in Netflix.
Millions of Netflix subscribers experienced issues during Friday’s Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson bout.
Concerns regarding Netflix’s capacity to broadcast several NFL games were immediately raised by the fight’s problems.
Front Office Sports claims that the league promptly inquired about the streaming service’s potential.
“There were clearly a lot of emails and calls flying around over the weekend,” an insider told FOS.
“What happened was definitely noted, and there were conversations.”

The NFL is still confidence in Netflix’s ability to broadcast its games, despite some issues with the service.
Elizabeth Stone, the CTO of Netflix, admitted responsibility for the shortcomings of the Tyson-Paul fight and stated that the firm will take lessons from it.
“This unprecedented scale created many technical challenges, which the launch team tackled brilliantly by prioritizing stability of the stream for the majority of viewers,” Stone wrote in a note to the firm.
“I’m sure a lot of you have noticed the discussion around the quality issues in the media and on social media.
“We don t want to dismiss the poor experience of some members, and know we have room for improvement, but still consider this event a huge success.”
Since it is unclear how many people saw the fight, it is difficult to predict whether Netflix will experience the same problems with the NFL games as it did with the fight.
NFL management are unable to accurately gauge the event’s size since Netflix streaming viewing numbers aren’t measured like those of live TV streams.
Furthermore, no third source has confirmed any of the viewership numbers that Netflix has made public.
Mike Mulvihill, president of insight and analytics at Fox Sports, said on X, “We’d have a more thorough understanding of our market if Nielsen required streamers to be in all-in or all-out with their live measurement – which has always been required of [linear] networks.”
In order to handle the surge of NFL fans, Netflix will need to strengthen its servers.
Christmas Day games drew an average of 28.4 million viewers last season.
