NFL star who’s earned $16m during career wakes up unemployed after Denver Broncos make brutal roster cut decision

With five weeks remaining in the 2024 season, an NFL veteran was let go by the Denver Broncos.

Josh Reynolds was waived by the Broncos on Tuesday.

After designating Reynolds to return from injured reserve on November 13, the Broncos took the decision to cut him.

In order to keep Reynolds, they chose not to keep him on injured reserve or add him to the 53-man roster this week.

Reynolds was waived at the same time that second-year Marvin Mims and rookie wide receivers Troy Franklin and Devaughn Vele have been given playing time.

If Reynolds passes waivers on Wednesday, Denver may still be able to sign him to a practice squad contract.

Reynolds could sign with any team as a free agent if he is not claimed.

In five games, Reynolds, 29, only caught 12 passes for 183 yards and one touchdown.

On his one touchdown grab against the Las Vegas Raiders on October 6, he broke his finger.

In 2024 free agency, Reynolds agreed to a two-year contract worth $9 million with the Broncos.

He will be guaranteed $4.2 million from Denver.

Reynolds was the victim of a drive-by shooting in October, but he has been placed on injured reserve since the hand injury.

Reynolds was shot in Denver and sustained what the police described as “non-threatening” injuries to his left arm and head.

Regarding the event in which two individuals were arrested in connection with the shooting, Reynolds has remained silent.

Reynolds might be of interest to the Detroit Lions.

The eight-year NFL veteran has spent the previous three seasons in Detroit, where he has caught 97 passes for 1,393 yards and 10 touchdowns.

32 of Reynolds’ 40 catches from the previous season were for first downs.

A dependable alternative to Jameson Williams and Ama-Ron St. Brown would also be helpful to the 11-1 Lions.

Reynolds played for the Los Angeles Rams for four seasons after being selected in the fourth round of the draft.
