NOPD: Arrest in Hollygrove Investigation As Suspect Located, What Happened Next?
NEW ORLEANS, (DEBARYLIFE) — Following a chase in the Hollygrove area on Tuesday, June 4, New Orleans Police Department officers have taken an 18-year-old into custody and are currently looking for another individual.
At around 1:49 p.m., the NOPD stated that a detective saw a “crime of violence” at the junction of Louisiana Avenue and Magnolia Street.
The defendants allegedly left the area in a black SUV, according to NOPD officers.
The SUV allegedly led the officers to the intersection of South Claiborne Avenue and Monticello Street after they started chasing it.
Then, according to NOPD officials, one of the suspects stepped out of the vehicle and fled while the vehicle was driving away.

A perimeter was set up at South Claiborne Avenue, Monticello Street, Nelson Street, and Mistletoe Street, according to the NOPD.
Jabari Payton, 18, is accused of illegally possessing a machine gun, two counts of illegally carrying a firearm, and illegal possession of an automobile after being detained, according to NOPD officials.
An additional suspect is still at large, according to the NOPD.
The Louisiana State Police is aiding, according to NOPD authorities, and the investigation is still underway.
