FOX 2, Northfield TWP, Mich.filed on Friday against two individuals who kidnapped two children in what is thought to be a custody dispute on New Year’s Day.

As the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office investigates the death of two foster parents, three suspects who have been in custody since Wednesday may appear in court for the first time on Friday.

Three individuals were inside the house at the time, according to police: 74-year-old Stevie Smith and a married couple, Jeffrey Bernhard, 52, and Jennifer Bernhard, 48. There were also two little girls inside the house.

According to the police, all three victims were shot after an altercation broke out when the three suspects arrived.

The shooting claimed the lives of both Smith and Jennifer Bernhard. According to the hospital’s records, Jeffrey Bernhard is stable.

“Upon arrival they found two deceased adults in the residence and there was another adult suffering from gunshot wounds,” according to Lt. David Powell.

The girls are 4 and 9 years old. One of the girls was discovered on Rowley Court, while the other young girl was located around two minutes away on Lexington Parkway.

Keith Finley, 60, Gregory Callhan, 37, and Shuvonne Vinson, 42, were all charged with assault, kidnapping, and murder, among other offenses.
