Olympic legend Nancy Kerrigan breaks down in floods of tears live on TV over figure skating team killed in plane crash

American figure skating legend Nancy Kerrigan was overcome with emotion as she remembered the local figure skaters who perished in Wednesday night’s horrific plane crash in Washington, DC.

The 55-year-old Olympic legend talked about the tragic crash that killed all 67 people when an American Airlines plane collided with a military helicopter.

The CEO of the Skating Club of Boston, Doug Zeghibe, stated that six members of the US Figure Skating were killed in the plane and helicopter crash.

The two-time Olympic medalist Kerrigan is a graduate of the Boston skating club, which they were associated with.

Speaking to media about the tragic loss, Kerrigan broke down in tears during a news conference held Thursday at the Skating Club of Boston.

“As Americans, we’ve seen catastrophes before, and we’re resilient. Alongside the club’s representatives, Kerrigan remarked, “I suppose it’s how we react to it, and my response is to be with people I care about.”

“All I wanted was to join our community and be here.

It’s shocking, in my opinion. It’s even more devastating when you discover that you know some of the passengers on the aircraft.

Kerrigan claimed to have been up all night watching the collision’s news coverage.

“We’ve been through tragedies as Americans, as people, and we are strong, and I guess it’s how we respond to it,” she continued after expressing her condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.

In addition, Kerrigan shared her thoughts on the two coaches who perished in the collision: Vadim Naumov and Evgenia Shishkova.

“I never worked with them, I mean we were in the Olympics together but the night before I was kind of busy myself and sort of separated from what was going on, but I’ve seen them a lot of times over the years,” she explained.

According to what you’ve heard, they may be a touch tough, but they always have a smile on their faces.

“They were usually friendly and delighted to see each other.

“I believe it would be quite odd for everyone who visits to walk in here and not see that. It will be difficult.

In 1994, married couple Shishkova and Naumov took home the world championship in couples figure skating.
