(FOX 2) ORION TWP, Mich.The suspect in the stabbing death of an Orion Township caseworker has been charged by Oakland County prosecutors.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said Friday that Gul Nabi Rahmati, 34, of Dearborn Heights, has been charged in connection with the stabbing.

According to officials, he was accused of stabbing caseworker Zubair Mansuori and was charged with two felonies, including assault with intent to murder. Among his patrons was Rahmati.

The backstory

Prosecutors claim Rahmati showed up to Mansuori’s house on Wednesday. Rahmati allegedly repeatedly stabbed Mansuori when they met outside, then tried to attack another man who had arrived to offer assistance.

According to officials, Rahmati ran away from the scene and later turned himself in to the Dearborn Heights Police Department.

Both guys lawfully reside in the United States and are citizens of Afghanistan.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated, “Zubair Mansuori was the victim of a heinous and seemingly unprovoked attack.” “I am committed to bringing his alleged attacker to justice.”

Rahmati is accused with assault with a dangerous weapon and faces a life sentence.

According to Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard, the victim is currently stable and fortunate to be alive. They were stabbed and cut twenty times.

Since they think it might have anything to do with religion, police said they have a theory as to what caused the stabbing.

“They were both natives of Afghanistan. “May return to something like that, possibly different religious sects,” Bouchard remarked.

After contacting Samaritas regarding the incident, FOX 2 issued the following statement:

“The event involving one of our committed caseworkers yesterday saddens us greatly. Our top goal continues to be the security and welfare of our employees, customers, and community.

Police claim that the suspect has a lawyer and is not assisting them, which has put a halt to the stabbing probe.
