Packers coach Matt LaFleur in angry exchange with Lions fan who was on the field and making ‘throat slit’ gestures
On his own sideline, Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur was observed arguing with a Detroit Lions supporter.
LaFleur also accused the supporter of gesturing with a throat slit at his teammates.
Just before kickoff at Ford Field, the fan was on the field to hold the flag as the national anthem was playing.
He reportedly muttered something to the Packers sideline as he was leaving that LaFleur didn’t appreciate.
The Green Bay coach then went over to the supporter, and they had a brief conversation.
The two were then separated by Packers coaches and players.

During his press conference after the game, LaFleur was questioned about the event.
LaFleur remarked, “I’ve never been a part of something like that,”
“He was giving our guys the throat slash gesture and yelling trash to them.
“You’re trying to deescalate it and then he gets in my face.”
“I thought it was pretty unsportsmanlike,” the Packers coach continued. I have never witnessed that.
“I’ve been on a lot of fields, and they often have considerably better police.

“I assumed it was a haughty fan who wanted to join in on the fun.
“I would like to see security step in and get him out of there because he shouldn’t be doing that.”
Detroit Edged was an action-packed game that started with the incident.
With their 34-31 victory, the Lions increased to 12-1 and seized control of the NFC North division.
As time ran out on the fourth and first, Detroit went for it and set up Jake Bates for a game-winning field goal from 35 yards out.
Two of the three touchdown passes that Jared Goff threw went to Tim Patrick.
According to Lions coach Dan Campbell, this will be one of those moments you’ll never forget.
