Parking tickets double to $516 as drivers slapped with extra $30 fee in new spring break crackdown
In a harsh new spring break crackdown, parking penalties will treble to $516 and drivers will be assessed an additional $30.
Miami’s lovely beaches and sunlight attract thousands of students during spring break, but the city also experiences interruptions, an increase in crime, and an overabundance of law enforcement.
Strict measures, such as parking limits, driving under the influence checkpoints, and more law enforcement, are being implemented by the city to curb disruptive behavior.
According to city officials, last year’s limitations made the area safer, and this year they’re going all out to maintain order.
March 2025 as a whole has been identified by Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones as a high-impact period.
He said: “We will be employing licence plate readers, drones, videotechnology, and increased enforcement against the illegal consumption of alcohol in public as well as the possession of illegal drugs.”

Miami Beach will impose more stringent regulations from Thursday through Sunday on the weekends of February 27–March 2, March 6–9, and March 27–30.
If a non-resident is towed in South Beach, they will be charged $516, which is twice the normal amount.
According to Carpenter’s memo, college timetables indicate that the largest spring break crowds are anticipated on March 13–16 and March 20–23.
Stricter regulations, such as parking garage closures, will be implemented to control the influx.
The Sunset Harbour Garage between 19 Street and Bay Road and the 42 Street Garage between Royal Palm and Sheridan Avenues will similarly charge visitors a $100 fixed parking fee.
Additionally, Miami Beach is hiring more people for the police, fire department, and sanitation department.
Visitors will not be allowed to use the parking garages after 6 p.m.
For spring breakers, the message is clear: come for the sand and sun, but leave the pandemonium at home.
Chief Jones stated: “We want everyone to enjoy Miami Beach, but will not tolerate behaviour that puts our residents and visitors at risk.”
How Miami Beach is shutting the door on spring break
A number of regulations have been passed by Miami Beach city officials in an effort to lessen the chaos and disorderly situations that have plagued past spring break festivities. A list of prohibited actions has been compiled by the U.S. Sun.
- Drinking alcohol in public places
- Smoking tobacco on beaches and parks
- Using narcotics, including cannabis
- Driving under the influence
- Driving a scooter irresponsibility
For the remainder of the month, Ocean Drive beach entrances will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday.
Glass containers, plastic straws, loud music, and coolers are prohibited on the beaches.
From Thursday through Sunday, parking garages in the city’s entertainment zone charge a flat fee of $30.
To avoid traffic jams, police use license plate readers and traffic planners.
