Pat McAfee Show star AJ Hawk admits ‘we should have asked him that’ in glaring omission during Aaron Rodgers interview

AJ HAWK admits he ducked out on the opportunity to ask Aaron Rodgers about his NFL future.

The 40-year-old returned to action with the New York Jets after missing his debut season with a torn Achilles, sustained last September.

But Rodger’s time in the NFL might be drawing to an end.

Frustrated Jets fans unanimously agreed that the veteran quarter-back should retire after a sorry performance in their 6-31 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Rodgers completed 22 of 35 passes for 151 yards and zero touchdowns while getting sacked three times as the Jets got blown out on Sunday.

But Hawk had the chance to interview his former Green Bay Packers team-mate on Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee show.

Yet it seemed that the former linebacker-turned-analyst forgot to ask Rodgers the most pressing question of the hour – about his possible retirement.

Thankfully, Jets reporters did the deed on Thursday afternoon.

Despite a 3-7 start as he plays below his standard, Rodgers insisted that he intends to be back next September.

When quizzed on returning next season, he said: “I think so, yeah.”

It was far from an emphatic yes, but it did provide a little bit of insight into what he’s thinking.

Hawk has since praised the Jets reporters that did what he should have done.

Patrick Mahomes labeled ‘rare and unique’ for locker room trait by Chiefs GM who praises ‘ambassador’ Travis Kelce

The 40-year-old told the show: “I was glad to see them ask him because I almost wanted to ask him the last time he was on.

“Didn’t really get to it, but I’m thinking, man, we should have asked him that.”

Hawk later claimed he didn’t want to “bug my buddy” amid the Jets five-game losing streak to gauge whether he thought about next season yet.

Head coach Robert Saleh was escorted out of the Jets’ training facility by security after he was fired earlier this month.

The iconic franchise brought defensive co-coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in to lead the team on an interim basis.

Moreover Rodgers will surely get to say goodbye to the NFL on his own terms given that he’s a first ballot Hall-of-Famer.
