Patrick Mahomes sends clear message to Kansas City Chiefs and urges ‘calmer’ games after another last-second victory

Going forward, Patrick Mahomes hopes to enjoy a few more relaxed weeks.

Mahomes is seeking some quiet in his NFL life after playing in a close game against the Carolina Panthers.

This season, the Kansas City Chiefs have played in a lot of one-score games, which has resulted in wild endings.

Even while Mahomes is aware that a victory is a victory, he still wishes for simpler endings by the conclusion of the season.

Following the Chiefs’ 30-27 victory, he remarked, “You want to have some blowouts.”

“In the fourth quarter, you want to be a little more composed.

“I’ve always maintained that knowing that you’ve experienced such situations before and know how to approach them can be beneficial as you approach the playoffs and later in the season.

“However, I would really like to win a game [before] the final play.”

The Chiefs have won eight of their ten games this season by a single score, which is an NFL record for a team’s first 11 games of the season.

Of those eight victories, five have occurred on the game’s last play.

A field goal that won the game, a score in overtime, a blocked field goal, and an opponent’s foot out of bounds were the reasons for two of those victories.

Mahomes’ 33-yard dash down the sideline that set up the field goal helped the Chiefs win their most recent game in the final seconds.

Coach Andy Reid remarked, “He has a great feel for the game.”

“He can sense the front and knows where the guys are based on the coverage and what they’re attempting to do and achieve with it.”

One of Mahomes’ strongest qualities is his ability to improvise, which has been essential to the Chiefs’ several tight victories.

Mahomes remarked, “It’s not like I pre-plan that stuff.”

“I feel like I try to go out there and make the play whenever it comes down to it, which is why I think it occasionally occurs later in games.

“Sliding is not what you want. We’ve been able to make some big runs and some big moments, but you have to kind of put your body out there knowing that you can take knocks and stuff like that.

Kicker Spencer Schrader was left to send the ball between the uprights for the victory after Mahomes set up the field goal.

He delivered the Chiefs their tenth victory of the season without letting them down.

Shrader stated, “I just tried to remain calm, understanding that it was going to come at some point, knowing that I’d be getting an opportunity.”

“Then I was prepared when the time came. That results from having faith in the team to put you in that circumstance, after which you simply go out there and succeed.
