Patrick Mahomes sparks major concern after being listed on Chiefs injury report with persistent ankle problem

When Patrick Mahomes appeared on the injury report this week, the Kansas City Chiefs became alarmed.

This season, the 29-year-old quarterback has been beset by issues.

However, in a victory over the Houston Texans last weekend, he seemed to have fully recovered.

After securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC on Christmas Day, Mahomes took three and a half weeks off to recuperate.

In the playoff division round, he made a comeback to the field and led the Chiefs to a 23–14 victory over the Houston Texans.

The Chiefs are getting ready for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.

On Wednesday, they reported their first injury of the week after practicing.

Additionally, the name of quarterback leader Mahomes was unexpected.

It was noted that he had an ankle issue.

He participated fully in practice, though, much like the other three players mentioned.

Prior to Sunday, Mahomes’ inclusion on the injury report is probably going to raise concerns about his health.

Due to a shoulder ailment, offensive lineman Mike Caliendo was also present.

Cornerback Jaylen Watson (ankle) and tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee) were also listed.

On the other hand, Buffalo’s Wednesday report had 11 players.

Of those, seven were able to participate fully in the practice.

Cornerback Christian Benford (concussion) and linebacker Matt Milano (hamstring/biceps) were sidelined.

Security Taylor Rapp’s hip and back problems prevented him from practicing at all.

Due of his illness, neither team tackled Dion Dawkins.

On Wednesday, Mahomes addressed media at the Chiefs’ stadium.

He responded to allegations that referees give Kansas City preferential treatment while making calls.

“I don’t feel that way,” according to Mahomes.

“The officials are ultimately trying their hardest to call the game as appropriately and fairly as they can.

“And all you can do is put yourself out there, give your all in the game you love, and accept the outcome.”

That’s what we preach here in Kansas City, I believe.

“Every play is unique, which is what makes the NFL so unique. You have new officials every year, and you get new situations, but you never really know.

“I feel like I’ve just continued to play the game, and I just try to win, and whatever happens kind of happens.”
