Petition signed by 3 MILLION who want new election because of Labour U-turns will be debated by MPs today

MPs will consider a petition calling for Sir Keir Starmer to call a general election quickly.

Three million people have criticized the PM for breaking too many of his pledges to the public, and ministers will have to address this criticism.

The Commons discussion is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

On November 20, Michael Westwood, the owner of three pubs in the Black Country, launched the massive internet petition.

After Elon Musk, the platform’s owner, shared it on X, it garnered a lot of support.

As he urged a deluge of signatures, the tech mogul asserted that “the people of Britain have had enough of a tyrannical police state.”

The 2024 general election was the subject of a “massive petition on 4 July inthis country” at the time, Sir Keir said.

The petition’s signatories claim that the prime minister made false statements about taxes and other matters in the run-up to the election.

Employers were hit with a massive increase in the tax in the Budget last November, even though they had promised not to raise national insurance.

“I think the people who are currently in charge of the country lied to get there,” Mr. Westwood told the BBC when asked why he started the petition.

“I think it’s great to have my thoughts and opinions shared and to discover that many others genuinely agree with them. It simply demonstrates that you’re not alone.

Even if the petition has three million signatures, it is impossible to verify that they are all authentic.

Critics have noted that there is no verification procedure to guarantee that anyone signing actually resides in the UK and that bots can add fictitious names.
