PFL announce major format change to winner-take-all tournament including huge cash bonus for stars
In 2025, the Professional Fighters League will undergo significant changes.
In the past, the season began with two qualifying matches in which points were awarded based on the method of win.
Following that, the top four in each division would advance to the win-or-go-home playoffs, which would culminate in a number of championship bouts.
Additionally, the victors of the season would have earned a total of $1 million from their four league fights that year.
Regular season qualifying have been eliminated, and the competition is now a three-stage knockout event instead.
Rather, it will be a quarterfinal, semifinal, and final stage match with the simple rules of win and advance, lose and go home.

Season winners will receive an additional $500,000 in addition to the fighters’ usual payouts.
“PFL is meritocratic in every way. Donn Davis, the founder of the PFL, told SunSport, “Win and advance, lose and go home.”
“We won’t change our minds about that in the slightest. However, we have been working to improve the format.
“To increase fan retention, the season and structure should be shortened and made easier to grasp.
“You’ll see some new and interesting stuff on the PFL season.”
Bellator was acquired by the PFL last year, and their fighters were signed.
However, the PFL will be used to promote and drop the Bellator brand this year.
There will be frequent Champions Series events with title fights in addition to the new tournament format.
April 3 marks the start of the first round, and the semi-finals and championship finals will take place over three events in June and August, respectively.
