Pizza Hut debuts its ‘twist on an iconic pairing’ with first of its kind product that exec says ‘flips it on its head’

In a daring new innovation that is the first of its type, PIZZA Hut has fused two popular staples: pizza and wine.

With its creative twist on the traditional pair, the limited-edition pizzawine is sure to draw attention.

With the release of its own pizza wine, Pizza Hut is making a daring foray into the wine industry.

Pizza Hut’s Tomato Wine is prepared with ripe, luscious tomatoes and infused with basil, in contrast to conventional wines made with grapes.

The “twist on an iconic pairing” was created in collaboration with the family-run Kansas vineyard Just Beyond Paradise Winery in Irvine.

“The wine offers an aromatic blend of fresh herbs and spices with rich, sun-ripened tomato notes and a subtle hint of toasted oak reminiscent of a perfectly baked pizza crust,” according to the business’s press release.

When cooled, the pizza wine tastes like white wine, despite being produced with tomatoes.

Fresh pizza from Italy goes well with the red wine, which has notes of basil, oregano, and a “whisper” of garlic.

“As a brand who has pioneered many firsts in the industry, we took a beloved, classic pairing of pizza and red wine and flipped it on its head as we aim to spark intrigue and create a more memorable holiday pizza party,” said Elyse Slayton, advertising director for Pizza Hut

Foodies can purchase the Tomato Wine only on the website of the Irvine Winery for $25 starting on November 19. A minimum of two bottles of wine must be purchased.

Additionally, Pizza Hut is offering a $60 limited-edition gift set that includes a wine opener, two wine glasses bearing the Pizza Hut logo, and a bottle of pizza wine.
