Police Arrest Three Adults, One Teen in Fatal Shooting Incident at Apartment Complex

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – According to Albuquerque Police, three adults and one teenager were taken into custody on Thursday morning for allegedly killing a man outside of an apartment building in Northeast Heights.

On Friday, detectives took into custody Daniel Eduardo Ruiz, 17, Jimena Yanez, 28, and Jazmin Ruiz Castro, 35. Aldo Muñoz, 21, was taken into custody by SWAT police on Monday. When gunshots were heard near an apartment at 11811 Menaul Blvd., NE, officers were called at 1:18 a.m. to report the incident.

When the police came, they discovered Fabian Romero dead in the vicinity of 18701 Menaul, which is located just east of Juan Tabo Blvd., NE.

Based on prior instances of domestic abuse, detectives discovered that Jazmine Ruiz Castro was subject to a restraining order against Romero. Nevertheless, Ruiz Castro was scheduled to meet with Romero and had been in communication with him.

That evening, Ruiz Castro showed up at the apartment, and she and Romero got into a fight. Romero was shooting down a staircase when Ruiz Castro shouted, according to the police, and her son Daniel Ruiz emerged from the apartment brandishing a weapon.

Ruiz eventually admitted to shooting Romero twice in the back because he believed the man was stabbing his mother. He claimed he persisted in pursuing Romero to a local business after he left the apartment building. He left the area, bt later came back to speak with the detectives.

Investigators were able to get security footage showing Ruiz Castro and three other people pursuing Romero. During the pursuit, one gunshot was heard, according to the police.
