Popular car dealership set to close in days as drivers say it didn’t stand a chance against Hyundai & Toyota

In just a few days, a well-known auto dealership will close, and some residents say they understand why it found it difficult to compete with other businesses.

Punta Gorda, Florida-based Gettel Lincoln will have to close its doors sometime in December.

According to a NewsBreak story, the Gettel showroom was almost completely vacant, with the exception of a small fleet of Lincoln cars remaining for sale.

Surprisingly, though, neither the dealership’s website nor the building carry any notice that it will be closing in a few days.

“Aside from warranty work, we can still perform service work for Lincolns,” stated Bill Finocchiaro, general manager of Gettel Toyota Charlotte County.

“We can do maintenance and sales.”

According to Finocchiaro, all of the other Gettel dealerships are still operating, and Gettel still owns the property at 2021 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda.

“We don’t know what’s going to go in its place,” he stated.

“Every salesperson and employee works in our other Gettel sites. They’re all OK.

The nearest Lincoln dealerships are now in Fort Myers and Sarasota as a result of this site closing.

Over the course of 30 years, Gettel has established dealerships with 15 manufacturers in 20 various locales, ranging from Punta Gorda to Georgia.

With dealerships offering brands including Buick, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram, they have been in Punta Gorda since 2017.

At additional shops across Florida, they also sell automobiles made by Porsche, Volkswagen, Kia, and BMW.

In response to the announcement, locals took to social media to express their knowledge of the closure’s rationale.

One person posted on Facebook: “Lincolns do not sell against Hyundai and Toyota.”

Another said: “They sold us two trucks. Up until we left the property, the last sale was fantastic.
