DETROIT (FOX 2):According to the pilot, a plane flying from Paris to Detroit missed another plane while trying to land at Detroit Metro Airport.

Local viewpoint:

When the incident occurred, Tammy Sambrano was returning to Michigan from a trip to France. She claimed that just as they were about to touch down, her jet abruptly took off again.

“We had two minutes to land,” she stated. “I noticed the ground when I peered out the window. The plane shot off like a flying jet into the skies, and I thought, “Okay, we made it.”

The pilot reported that the Air France aircraft had nearly missed another aircraft.

“The pilot comes over the speaker and says: sorry about that folks, there was a plane in the way so we had to go around it,” she continued.

Although Tami and her kid had a great day in Paris, the return flight reminded her of two other recent fatal airline crashes.

The backstory

A U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided with an American Airlines aircraft during Wednesday’s landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport.

According to an Army spokesman, the chopper carried three men. Dozens of people were killed in the massive search and rescue effort that followed the crash in the nearby Potomac River.

Then, on Friday night following the plane accident in the region, hundreds of firefighters and first responders flocked to Northeast Philadelphia later that week.

After the jet fell down, witnesses reported hearing huge explosions and seeing several cars on fire.

Next steps:

Tammy, who is back in Detroit, stated that more air traffic control personnel are required.

She is now worried about her upcoming flight later this year, even though the pilot managed to land the aircraft safely.

“I’m afraid to travel in October. “Hopefully, everything will be worked out by October,” I said.
