FOX 2: Romeo, Mich.At a Romeo dog refuge, a dog who was allegedly plunged in boiling water is battling for his life.

The Detroit Animal Welfare Group is attempting to assist a 4-month-old mixed breed beagle named Gideon after workers claim he was dunked in boiling water, and the image is distressing and disturbing.
“He is in tremendous pain right now. “This is the most agonizing dog I’ve ever seen,” Director Kelley Labounty remarked.
She claims that Gideon’s owner texted them Sunday night after posting on Facebook that he needed immediate medical attention. According to the rescue, Gideon was submerged in boiling water by the owner’s daughter. When they finally caught him, they took him right to the veterinarian, where Labounty said surgery might be on the horizon.
He had a high fever and irregular electrolytes, according to the rescuers on Monday.
“We did report it to Michigan Humane Security Anti-cruelty, and they would take it from there,” stated Labounty. “They have the information.”

There is some good news, according to Labounty, because Gideon is still a sweet little boy who craves affection and cuddles. They will look into the incident and try to hold the owner responsible.
