Randy Moss issues emotional statement to Sunday NFL Countdown team after heartbreaking cancer diagnosis
When Randy Moss was diagnosed with liver cancer, he wrote a statement to his Sunday NFL Countdown coworkers.
The 47-year-old NFL icon and ESPN star made the announcement on social media on Sunday.
Moss has not been on Sunday NFL Countdown, but the show has gone on.
On December 6, Moss resigned from his position on the show because of his health issues.
Moss wrote, “Sunday NFL countdown.. I MISS U TOO!!” on X on Sunday, tagging ESPN in the post.

Moss made reference to the You Got Mossed (or UGM) segment on Sunday NFL Countdown, which showcases significant wide receiver events in football.
Wide receiver Moss, an NFL Hall of Famer, typically hosts the section.
Moss revealed his overall health and acknowledged that he does have cancer to his fans on December 13.
Wearing a “Team Moss” jersey, the 47-year-old made an appearance in an Instagram Live video.
Moss revealed that following a six-hour operation to remove the malignancy, he has been recuperating from major surgery.
“Over the past few weeks, I’ve been telling you all about my internal battle, and the boy is a cancer survivor.
He then stated, “They discovered that I did have cancer in the bile duct, which is located directly between the liver and the pancreas, and it was located directly outside the build duct.
“My doctors arrived, and I underwent a six-hour procedure. If you’re wondering, you can Google it.
“I underwent a Whipple operation. I will always be grateful to Dr. [John Martinie], the greatest physician in the United States.
Moss then revealed that although he is making improvement, “it’s going to be a tough road with some chemo and some radiation.”
Since 2016, he has worked as an analyst for ESPN.
“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating ‘Countdown’ with his insight and passion,” according to an ESPN statement.
“He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”
Moss was a defensive coach at a North Carolina high school where his son played football before joining Fox Sports.
He is regarded as one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history.

On his resume, Moss has won Comeback Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and six Pro Bowls.
