Rapper SEAN KINGSTON and MOTHER ARRESTED in Broward County for Multi-million Dollar Fraud Scheme

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Sean Kingston, a rapper and actor, is back in South Florida, where he and his mother have been charged with more than a million dollars in fraud.

Kingston, 34, was taken into Broward County Jail on Sunday, according to documents. He was arrested on May 23 at Fort Irwin, an Army training camp in California’s Mojave Desert, where he was performing. Last Monday, he surrendered his right to contest extradition in a California court and agreed to be turned over to Florida police.

Kingston’s mother, 61-year-old Janice Turner, was arrested on the same day as her son, when a SWAT squad raided his rented property in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

According to arrest warrants issued by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Kingston, and Turner have been charged with carrying out an organized plan to deceive, grand theft, identity theft, and other felonies. The warrants state that they took money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade, and furnishings.

The Jamaican-American singer scored a No. 1 hit with “Beautiful Girls” in 2007 and worked with Justin Bieber on “Eenie Meenie.”

Robert Rosenblatt, Kingston, and his mother’s attorney, previously stated that they were looking forward to resolving the accusations in a Florida court and “are confident of a successful resolution.”

According to the warrants, from October to March, they stole about $500,000 in jewels, more than $200,000 from Bank of America, $160,000 from an Escalade dealer, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, and $86,000 from a custom bed manufacturer. Specifics were not provided.

Kingston, real name Kisean Anderson, was already serving a two-year probation sentence for trafficking stolen property.

His mother pleaded guilty to bank fraud in 2006 for stealing more than $160,000 and served about 1.5 years in jail, according to federal court documents.
