Real reason Harley-Davidson discontinued popular model after six years despite being most sold bike in an entire country
Prior to its sudden discontinuation, a little-known Harley-Davidson model that was manufactured for only six years rose to the top of the national sales charts.
Constructed between 2014 and 2021, the Street 750 model was a failure in the United States but a success in India, where it continues to be the brand’s best-selling motorcycle.
The Street 750 was light, unthreatening, and had a top speed of only 105 mph, which is insufficient to excite most motorcyclists looking to purchase a Harley-Davidson. By Harley’s typical standards, it fell far short.
Nevertheless, it was renowned for being easy to handle and was reasonably priced, costing about $7,500 during its manufacturing time.
The Street 750 was an excellent option for novice riders who didn’t intend to go far or fast because it was powered by a 749 cc displacement version of Harley’s Revolution X engine.
It is a model that “fills a need for people who want to identify with a brand but have a motorcycle that is less intimidating and more inviting,” according to Matt Levatich, the brand’s previous CEO. Both riding and learning to ride this bike are simpler.

However, given its poor sales record in the US, that was insufficient to draw in customers.
But being the first Harley-Davidson sold outside of the United States, it created history in India and went on to become the best-selling model in the nation, according to SlashGear.
However, that was insufficient to keep the Street 750 afloat, as it was eventually terminated after years of being rejected by devoted Harley riders.
The bike’s manufacturing and exporting facilities in Bawal was shut down, and it was even removed from Indian showrooms.
A fan declared herself “obsessed” when Harley just unveiled their 2025 lineup.
However, others have advised prudence; one dealership staff member dismissed the collection as uninteresting.

Weeks after abruptly closing its doors while customers’ motorcycles were inside, a massive Harley dealership is reopening at this time.
The 30,000-square-foot store has more than $3.5 million worth of products and more than 100 Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
San Jose, California, which is a part of the San Francisco Bay Area, is home to Harley-Davidson.
On December 21, 2024, the dealership—one of the biggest Harley-Davidson lots in Northern California—closed.
With the approval of the previous owner, the store formally reopened on January 21 following a few delays.
