Remains found near Electric Forest festival site, six years after fan disappeared
(AP) ROTHBURY, MIHuman bones found close to the location of an annual music festival in northern Michigan—the same location where a man from the Detroit area vanished in 2018 while attending the event—are being identified by authorities.
“A positive identification of the remains cannot be made at this time pending autopsy results and further investigation,” the state police stated on X.
On Monday, investigators were dispatched to the famed Electric Forest music festival, which takes place in a woodland region close to Rothbury in Oceana County. Western Michigan University forensic anthropologists also contributed to the endeavor.
Since Tuesday, state police have not provided an update.
In 2018, Kevin Graves was 28 years old at Electric Forest. Investigators claimed he was heading back to his tent after a confrontation with a girlfriend.
At the time, police used canines and scores of volunteers to search, and divers examined nearby lakes. In 2023, a billboard featuring Graves’ image asked attendees of the event to contact the authorities if they had any information.
Gary Graves, his father at the time, said, “Whatever it takes,” “I don’t care if I lose everything. I will continue to do my best.”
According to Michigan State Police, an ATV was taken from the Electric Forest music festival.
