Reward for tips on firebombing suspects offered after family’s home attacked

Fortunately, nobody was home at the time, but the interior had been damaged.

DETROIT (FOX 2):A devastating firebombing that has not been solved is seen on recently released video from May 9.

The offenders who tossed two Molotov cocktails through the window of this Fielding Street house and set it on fire are being sought by the authorities.

Fortunately, nobody was home at the time, but the interior had been damaged.

According to Shaakira McElrath, a neighbor, “they smashed the window and it sounded like the glass broke and they threw something in, I guess.”

While seeing a video that seemed to show one of the suspects setting himself on fire, Misty, another neighbor, remarked, “You can hear his voice, look at him on fire.”

Asia Hunter, the victim, claims that her family has owned her west side Detroit home for 37 years.

Fox 2: “Why would they do this to you?””You can only speculate why someone would do something so heinous and horrible,” Hunter added.

Just before the bombing, the retired air traffic controller was going to rent out the house one more before eventually giving it to her daughter.

“You’re supposed to take care of your house, it’s what you’re supposed to do,” Hunter stated. “It’s hard to even buy a house.”

Fox 2: “You re saying that the people who did this were jealous of you because you took care of your home?”

“That’s what it appears like,” she commented.

To identify the suspect or suspects, Detroit police are requesting your assistance. Additionally, there is a $500 prize for information that results in their apprehension.
