(FOX 2) River Rouge, Mich.An irate mother was asking questions after a scuffle between middle schoolers at Sabbath Middle School left one kid hospitalized.

The backstory

Video footage from the altercation showed 13-year-old Eymare Files being slammed to the ground. According to Eymare’s mother, Evelyn Dixon, the altercation left her unconscious and with a swollen face and neck.

“He informed me that he spent roughly 12 seconds on the ground. He was unable to move and no one assisted him up. I was furious about that. “I didn’t hear from anyone at the school,” she claimed.

She reports that her son is healing from the fight, which happened on January 31, but he is in a lot of pain. Evelyn says she is shocked that she wasn’t contacted right away by the River Rouge middle school. Hours later, when her eldest son showed her the video, she learned of Eymare’s injuries.

“It was like at the end of the school day,” she recalled. “I called right away, and a woman in the office told me that Eymare appeared to be doing well. To get him home, they had put him on the bus.

She claims her son suffered a mild concussion, and she drove him to the hospital from the bus stop.

“I’d like to know why I wasn’t contacted. The principal said he didn’t witness the fight in the gym because he was too busy and they didn’t have enough staff, she added. “But somebody should ve called me no matter what.”

The Sabbath Middle School principal told FOX 2 that he spent over an hour checking in with Eymare immediately following the event.

“The best interests of our kids always serve as our compass. We have attended to the particular needs of every kid while adhering to all appropriate procedures. We are really shocked by this circumstance, considering our close relationship and substantial assistance for this student. In order to resolve the matter and keep fostering the student’s development, we intend to collaborate closely with the family.”

According to Evelyn, she has taken her son from school and will be searching for a new school to enroll him in.
