Russell Wilson makes final decision over his Pittsburgh Steelers future after another embarrassing NFL playoff exit
Russell Wilson, the quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has communicated his future goals to the team.
In the Wild Card round game, the 36-year-old Wilson and the Steelers suffered a devastating 28-14 loss to the rival Baltimore Ravens due to a late-season collapse.
Wilson still wants to sign with the black and gold this offseason despite Pittsburgh’s five-game losing streak to close off the season.
Wilson wants to stay with the Steelers after signing a one-year contract with them in 2024.
Wilson stated, “That’s the plan,” at the team’s locker room on Monday.
“I adore this place. We have a fantastic football team, in my opinion.

“I think they’ve known that l’ve always wanted to be here and play here, but it is also a process.”
Due to a persistent calf injury, Wilson began the season on the sidelines and missed the first six games.
He won six of his first seven starts after being brought in to start in Week 7.
But Pittsburgh dropped their season-ending five games.
In none of those games did the team score more than 17 points.
Additionally, Wilson only recorded more than 200 passing yards once in that time frame.
Wilson responded, “I thought I played well,” when questioned about his performance this season.
“I would have liked to have performed a bit better. To tell the truth, I wish I had two plays back.
“The Ravens game and the one in Kansas City—just kind of put the ball inside.”
“Other than that, those two plays in particular, I competed and gave it my all.”
Wilson finished with 33 sacks, five interceptions, 16 touchdowns, and 2,482 passing yards.
When asked why he wanted to rejoin the Steelers, the 13-year NFL veteran mentioned head coach Mike Tomlini.
“I simply adore the guys. I adore the changing area. He declared, “I adore Coach Tomlin.”
“You know, love him for who he is. It goes without saying that I believe this is a place that can win a lot.
“I believe our football team is capable of winning a championship. This year, as I mentioned, things didn’t go as planned.
“However, I enjoy playing football. I enjoy playing the game a lot.
“And, you know, if it works out that way, I’m excited to do that for the black and gold on again.”
It is anticipated that Tomlin will return for the 2025 season.
